Coaching in the Mission Youth Soccer League

There are several steps in the registration process to become a certified coach or team administrator within the Mission Youth Soccer League. All individuals will have to complete a background check, fingerprints and register online in the Cal North and Affinity registration systems.

Step #1

All MYSL coaches, managers, and trainers (this includes any adult that is working with the players, whether or not they are officially considered a coach, manager, or trainer) must complete the following steps below via paper registration before being eligible to work with a team:
  1. Coaches, managers, and trainers must sign and initial each paragraph of the MYSL coach and manager commitment letter (for a Spanish-language version, click here).
  2. Coaches, managers, and trainers must sign the MYSL waiver (for a Spanish-language version, click here).

Step #2

Once the paper registration is complete, all coaches, managers and trainers must register online in the Affinity system. Please note, all individuals must register themselves. Please do not complete the registration process on behalf of any coach, manager, or trainer.
  1. Go to the MYSL Registration Website.
  2. Click on “Registration.”
  3. Choose the 2021-22 season.
  4. You will be able to log in with your user id and password. If you cannot remember your user id and password, you can click on “Create New Account” and enter your information. The system should find you and ask you if you want to use your existing account. Say YES. If you coached or managed last year and the system does not find you, STOP and email soccereg@sfmiller.com so that you do not create a new account.
  5. After you finish the process, log out and then go back to the MYSL Registration website (address above). Click “login.” You will see your account. Click on “Certificates.” You will see links to complete the below 3 required steps (Very Important: when you complete these steps, be sure to use the exact first and last name, date of birth, gender and email so that your results will be sent to your account in the CalNorth system):
    • Safe Sport training (must be completed every year)
    • Health and Safety/Concussion training (must be completed every year)
    • JDP Background Screening (this is a new requirement)
  6. If you have not been live scanned and cleared in the system, you will receive an email after registering with a live scan formed attached. If you do not receive the email, log back into your account in Affinity, click on “Applications” and click on “Receipt and Forms.” Download the live scan form and take the form to your live scan appointment. Keep the live scan form until the results are cleared.

Step #3*

New coaches must also complete the following:
  1. Introduction to Grassroots Coaching through USSF
  2. One online grassroots course through USSF (11 v 11, 9 v 9, 7 v 7 or 4 v 4)

*Please note, if you are a team manager and do not plan on having any coaching responsibilities, you do not need to complete step #3.
